This year's major art-piece is a follow-on from last year's
'Haworth ... as WE see it',
which was a phenominal success.
The 5th March 2008 saw the formation of a new art's group:
'Haworth People's Art'.

Our main objects are as follows:
1. To organise and run a large annual community-based art project.
2. To be fully inclusive by involving local people of all ages, ethnicity, abilities, sex and sexual orientation.
3. To have the project established as part of the local school's curriculum, as well as part of the time-table for other community groups, e.g: Scouts, Brownies, Toddler groups, Churches and Faith Centres, Nursing Homes, etc.
4. To build social bridges within the community and develop the capacity and skills within it.
5. To foster understanding and co-operation between people of diverse backgrounds.
6. To highlight and promote ( other ) local charities and help to fund-raise.

We have got off to a flying start with a £400 grant from Pace Electronics, £200 from the Parish Council ( with a further £200 to follow ) ... and £50 from a local girl who enjoyed last year's event so much that she wanted to pay towards it happening again !
She is one of the main reasons that it will ... along with the half dozen others who have taken up painting as a hobby following the event.
We have the backing of the Parish Council and the Trader's Association.
B&Q are looking into supplying us with equipment and our initial application to the Arts Council has gone in.
